New Delhi: An eyewitness who runs a small shop near the Red Fort Metro Station recalled the moment of the explosion, saying he had never heard a blast this loud in his life, describing how he fell multiple times while trying to run for safety, the sound shook the entire area and thick smoke covered the sky, vehicles caught fire instantly as flames rose rapidly, people screamed and ran in panic to escape, many were unable to understand what had just happened, and the entire market area was thrown into chaos.
The blast occurred during a busy evening when the area was crowded with shoppers and tourists, people were seen stumbling on the road while trying to move away, the ground seemed to vibrate due to the force of the explosion, smoke and dust made it nearly impossible to see clearly for several minutes, shopkeepers pulled down shutters to protect themselves and their property, traffic around the site stopped suddenly due to confusion, and sirens of emergency vehicles soon filled the atmosphere.
The Fire Department received the emergency call around 6 pm and rushed seven fire tenders to the scene, firefighters battled heavy flames that had engulfed at least three to four vehicles, the burning vehicles caused intense heat across the entire stretch, officers confirmed that the fire was brought under control after continuous effort, however, the main car involved in the blast was completely destroyed, the department has not yet confirmed the cause of the explosion, and the situation is now under official review.

Following the blast, Delhi Police issued a high alert across the capital, additional police deployment was ordered in areas around Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and nearby crowded markets, security checks were increased at metro stations and sensitive public locations, citizens were urged to report any suspicious behavior immediately, rapid response teams were placed on standby as a precaution, the Home Ministry has requested detailed investigation reports, and surveillance operations have been intensified to maintain safety.
